Day 3: Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Begin your journey to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its acacia-dotted savannah. Settle into lunch at your first well-appointed safari camp in the private Sweetwaters Game Reserve, and enjoy sweeping views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. You’ll also have the chance to visit Sweetwaters Chimp Sanctuary, Kenya’s only such sanctuary, to meet and learn about the endearing chimps transferred from the Jane Goodall Institute. The shallow alkaline lake serves as the seasonal feeding ground for over a million lesser and greater flamingo, and is home to thousands of water birds including the white pelican, greater cormorant and sacred ibis. Your ranger will also seek out the bigger animals around the lake’s grasslands and rocky outcroppings, including waterbuck, baboons, and even the endangered white rhino. (BLD)

Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Whether or not you catch up with this grand spectacle, the Mara’s tree-flecked grasslands are frequented by huge herds of plains game; prides of black-maned lion, leopard and cheetah; herds of elephants and prolific birdlife year-round. Upon returning to camp, you may opt (at an additional cost) to immerse yourself in the local culture with a visit to the authentic Maasai Village; then, fill in your eclectic photo gallery during this afternoon’s game drive. Tonight, take in your last magical African sunset and join your fellow travelers in a toast to your unforgettable adventure. (BLD)
